CELEBRATE OUR HERITAGE
Participate in the Annual Auxiliary Patriotic Ceremony marking the Statue of Liberty's Birthday. On October 28, 2006, Miss Liberty will be 120. The Ladies Auxiliary has been marking the occasion with a celebration on Liberty Island since her 50th Birthday. This Americanism program provides an opportunity to teach young people about our heritage, respect for our Flag, and the responsibilities of citizenship, such as voting. The organization also distributes U.S. Flags to community groups and schools. 

THANK AND HONOR TODAY'S & YESTERDAY'S VETERANS...
by providing Operation Uplink prepaid long-distance telephone cards to active-duty military personnel and hospitalized veterans. Respond to special needs such as those created by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The Auxiliary also volunteers 2.6 million hours and donates $10.8 million a year helping with needs such as child care, food and transportation.

TRAVEL TO INTERESTING PLACES
Upcoming National Ladies Auxiliary VFW meetings scheduled for the near future will be held in: Reno, NV; North Conway, NH; Kansas City, MO; New York City, NY; Washington, D.C.; Seattle, WA; Orlando, FL;  Omaho, NE; Phoenix, AZ;  Myrtle Beach, SC; Indianapolis, IN; and San Antonio, TX.

DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS
You can learn how to work with the media, develop interpersonal skills, learn how to run an effective meeting, and gain self-confidence as you sharpen your public speaking skills before peers and community groups. Start as a local Auxiliary committee chairman and work your way up to the National Presidency as you gain experience as a leader.

SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY
Ladies Auxiliary VFW members volunteer 1.8 million hours each year at VA Medical Centers and nursing homes throughout the country. Members also volunteer for organizations such as the March of Dimes, Special Olympics, Ronald McDonald Houses, and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

ENJOY ACTIVITIES AS A FAMILY
The Ladies Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Junior Girls Units, and Sons of the VFW provide opportunities for your entire family to be involved. Soon you will consider other members as your extended family.
