December, 2008Volume 1, Issue 2 Greetings Ladies, Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. This is a wonderful time for sharing and giving. We had a very successful Buddy Poppy drive. This was the first year at Walmart and I would like to give a special thanks to all that helped, Tina Quenga and granddaughter Chantel, Dolly Harris, Ronnie and Belinda Harris, James Avery, Bobby Gallimore, Ralph and Janie Rodriquez, Susie and Jim Carter, and Christine Funderburg. Our Veterans Day float looked very good. A big thank you goes to Jeanine and Doug Bell, Susie and Jim Carter, Mens Auxiliary and all others that helped and rode on the float. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to have the successful events that we have. Due to a gas leak at the Post, we had to postpone our Spaghetti dinner until January 9th. We will get on track to start out the new year. Coming up in December is Pearl Harbor Day on the 7th. There will be a Flag Raising and short ceremony at 7:55 a.m. Post Christmas party on the 12th, dinner and music. It is time for the mid-year reports. Time is flying by. We need to work on membership. We had 25 members present at the last meeting and would like to see that number increase. There is so much to do to help our veterans and families and membership is one of the most important ways to ensure that we carry on. If you haven’t sent in your membership dues, please do so now. Check out our webpage, www.ladiesauxvfw6873.org . We will have the newsletter, program information along with pictures and calendar. It looks great. It is still time to get in an order for tamales. All proceeds go to the Salvation Army Angel Tree. Call Darlene Jurkis at 695-4503 for questions and orders. Our next meeting will be December 9th. Our Post is host for the district meeting in February so we need to begin plans for that. We will be voting on internet accessibility for our office computer. I know that this is a busy time of the year but our work is very important to so many. The meal is at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. The meat for the meal will be ham, so bring a side dish and join us.
