Americanism November is always a busy month for the Americanism Program. We have our Veteran's Day programs and our Veteran's Day parade will on November 15th. We will have a float in parade adn want to thank the Men's Auxiliary Chaplain, Diggy Bell, for all his help. I also want to thank my "right arm" Susie Carter. Without the help of Susie and Jim the float would never have made it out of the garage. We will also be passing out flags and Buddy Poppies at the parade and will need a lot of help. If you can walk, or just sit in a chair, we can use your help in passing out the flags and poppies. I will have the flags at the parade on the corner of North 2nd and Pine. If you can help please meet me there but I will not be there until about 10:00 or 10:30. Our next Americanism program will be the Pearl Harbor Day ceremony on the 7th of December starting at 11:55 a.m. (7:55 a.m. in Hawaii - when the Japanese began to bomb Pearl Harbor in 1941). This is the day that our country went to war against the Nation of Japan. The very least we can do is to honor our U.S. Servicemen and women who were attacked in Pearl Harbor that day and those who lost their lives. Please consider this and come and attend our Pearl Harbor Day program on December 7th. It starts at 11:55 a.m. and a light lunch will be served after the program. Until next time, remember Amercanism is an unfailing love of country: loyalty to its institutions and ideals; eagerness to defend it against all enemies; undivided allegiance to the flag; and a desire to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and posterity.
