The Young American Creative Patriotic Art Scholarship program is a national competition for college scholarships that is offered by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. This contest is open to all students in grades nine through twelve, as well as home schooled students. Foreign exchange students are not eligible.The national first place winner will be awarded a college scholarship in the amount of $10,000, and the winning art will be featured on the cover of the VFW Magazine. Second and third place winners will receive scholarships for $5,000 and $2,500.
The first place winner from each VFW Ladies Auxiliary will be forwarded to the department chairman for judging on the state level. Only the winning entry from each state is eligible for the national competition.Each entry will be judged on the originality of concept, presentation and patriotism expressed. The design technique, total impact of work and uniqueness are also considered. If the American Flag is used, it must conform to the Federal Flag Code. (Local VFW’s or libraries should have copies.)
